Since 1996, BONNOX has been the proud and only supplier of top-quality hinge joint for backfill mesh to AngloGold Ashanti. Due to the enormous problems and difficulties experienced in paddock construction with welded mesh, BONNOX offered the mining industry a new type of hinge-joint fence. Because the hinge-joint fence is made from a cold weaving process, which does not impair the strength of the line wires (horizontal strands), it eliminates the problems inherent in welded mesh.
On the advice of AngloGold, our products were tested according to the specifications issued by the ACC Standard Boards. These tests were successfully conducted in November 1996 by Steffen, Robertson & Kirsten (SRK) Consulting Engineers.
Not only was the strength of the hinge joint far better, but it also proved to be far superior in underground conditions because of its light weight (18.5kg against 31kg). This means they can easily be handled by one or two people, without the need for forklifts. BONNOX mesh rolls are tightly wound, sturdy and compact.
