Innomotics, a globally leading provider of electric motors and large drive systems, has been awarded a major electrification project to support an important mining operation in northern Chile. The order value is a double-digit million Euro amount.
Chile is the worldās largest copper producer. As part of long-term partnerships, decades of experience in Chileās mining operations, and Innomoticsā in-deep mining know how, Innomotics is modernizing critical infrastructure related to tailings handling and environmental management. The project is closely aligned with the customer’s strategic goals to increase sustainability and operational efficiency.
The scope of the project includes the engineering, supply, commissioning, and start-up of a fully integrated system, comprising:
⢠71 medium-voltage (MV) drives
⢠8 modular E-houses
⢠Medium and low-voltage distribution systems
Especially in Chile the mining industry plays a key role in the transition to a more sustainable and digital world. Minerals and rare earths extracted in this sector are used in numerous future technologies such as batteries, semiconductors and solar panels. Due to this outstanding position, reliable as well as sustainable operations are crucial for miners. Electrifying mining operations and their first-class maintenance are thus an essential step on this path.
However, the comprehensive and reliable supply of electricity in the toughest mining conditions is one of the most demanding challenges facing the industry. A way to deal with it is the use of modular power distribution solutions. Innomoticsā āE-housesā drive efficiency from excavation to transportation and beneficiation. In addition to time and cost savings, āE-housesā help customers increase productivity and fulfill sustainability ambitions. Furthermore, sustainable and future-proof maintenance with support of digital solutions ensures optimal performance and reliability.
āFrom minerals to metals to rare earth elements, the mining industry is one of the most crucial and at the same time most demanding industries. At Innomotics, we help our mining customers in Chile and all over the world on their paths to more sustainability by providing outstanding and reliable solutions, products and servicesā, says Michael Reichle, CEO of Innomotics.
