Fogmaker Fire Suppression Systems on Kascco’s First CAT 789D Trucks

Six uniquely themed trucks commissioned at FQM’s Kalumbila Mine mark a milestone in mining safety, innovation, and community values.

Solwezi, Zambia – Integrated Fire Technology (IFT) Zambia is proud to announce the successful installation of 57.5L Fogmaker fire suppression systems on Kascco Group’s first six CAT 789D haul trucks, commissioned at First Quantum Minerals’ (FQM) Kalumbila Mine. This project represents the first CAT 789 trucks in Zambia to be fitted with Fogmaker’s proven high-pressure suppression technology. This achievement underscores IFT Zambia’s growing reputation for technical excellence in the mining industry.

Trucks That Carry a Message

Each of Kascco’s newly commissioned trucks has been uniquely designed to reflect causes and values that resonate with both employees and the wider community:

  • Truck 1 (Pink): Breast Cancer Awareness – encouraging early detection and regular health checks.
  • Truck 2 (Red): Stop Gender-Based Violence – a strong stance against abuse in all forms.
  • Truck 3 & 4 (Zambian Flag): a proud tribute to the nation where Kascco operates and grows.
  • Truck 5 (Zebra): Wildlife Conservation – highlighting the importance of protecting nature.
  • Truck 6 (White with Handprints): Community – symbolising unity, teamwork, and belonging, with employee handprints proudly displayed.

“This initiative demonstrates that mining can and should go beyond productivity,” said Pandwe Lubamba, Country Manager, IFT Zambia. “Each truck tells a story that matters deeply to our people and our communities. By pairing these values with world-class safety technology, we are driving progress with purpose.”

IFT Zambia: Driving Mining Safety Forward

IFT Zambia’s role in this project highlights the company’s technical capability and commitment to advancing mining safety across the region. The installation of Fogmaker systems ensures that each truck is equipped with rapid-response fire suppression, safeguarding operators, equipment, and operations.

“The successful installation of Fogmaker systems on Kascco’s CAT 789 fleet is a proud milestone for our team,” said Lubamba. “It reflects our expertise, teamwork, and dedication to delivering the highest standards of safety for our clients. Together with Kascco and FQM, we are setting new benchmarks in mining fire protection.”

The project includes a total of 12 trucks, with the first six now commissioned and the remaining units scheduled for installation once assembly is completed by Barloworld.

Partnership and Progress

This initiative would not have been possible without the trust and support of First Quantum Minerals, who continue to champion responsible and innovative mining practices.

Looking Ahead

As the remaining trucks are prepared for commissioning, Kascco has invited its employees and community stakeholders to suggest new causes and values to be represented on the next six trays—ensuring the fleet continues to symbolise care, unity, and responsibility.
